Clausen, Tate Going Pro

Notre Dame Quarterback Jimmy Clausen and one of his favorite targets, WR Golden Tate, both decided to go pro today. Notre Dame declined any sort of bowl, so I can't imagine that the choice was a difficult one, especially with a new coach coming in. When asked about it, Clausen responded "Coach Weis told me whether he was going to be here or not be here, it was time for me to go. He thought I've improved so much since I came to Notre Dame. So I'm taking his advice, and I'm heading out." Well that sounds conclusive. I'd guess that this news (the quarterback that likes him so much is leaving) stirred Tate to leave too. Looks like.. Dayne Crist is going to have a rough first year.

McCoy Struggles in Big 12 Championship

Who knows. Maybe you can blame it on the pass rush (9 sacks, 4.5 by Suh), maybe you can blame it on the inept receivers who can't hold onto the football (sometimes "losing the football" into a Nebraska defender's arms), or maybe you can blame it on the lack of running game Texas got going (leading rusher Tre'Newton had 36 yards on 19 carries-1.9 YPC). Whatever you want to toss the guilt on, McCoy and the Texas offense had an abysmal evening against the Huskers. McCoy threw for 184 yards, completing 20 of 36 attempts, including three interceptions. The first intereception- eh not a great throw but it was a tipped ball. Second INT was an under thrown ball right into the Nebraska defender's hands. Third was, as I mentioned, grappled away from one of his receiver's hands. So sad. He also managed a mind boggling -20 rushing yards on 17 attempts (all the TFL), but accounted for one touchdown on the ground. Were it not for the win, I'd say McCoy is entirely out of the Heisman Race now.

Locker Shines in (Maybe) Final Game

Jake Locker threw an almost perfect game Saturday night against California in what was perhaps his final game as a Husky. He connected on 19 of his 23 passes (83% completion) for three touchdowns and no interceptions, while adding two touchdowns on the ground on 14 carries for 77 yards.

Almost seems unfair how effortless it looks.

Tebow So-So in SEC Championship

Tim Tebow had a pretty under-average (in Tebow terms) game Saturday against Alabama. He threw for 246 yards and completed 20 of 35 passes, with one touchdown and one interception. The interception came at a time when Florida was attempting a comeback, normally when Tebow would be at his best. The most striking moment for me was when they panned to Tebow crying on the sideline when he realized the game was out of reach. I know he's used to winning, but he's gonna have to get used to losing if he gets drafted by Jacksonville (which is what rumors suggest).

Yup that pretty much sums things up.

Locker looks like he has the lead, look for this to perhaps change after the season. Sites were selected because they correlated juniors into their rankings.
